Being Bullied by a Big Corporation Sucks
I was contacted by Warner Bros via email, twice (since I didn't notice the first one), demanding in imperative and bluntly intimidating tone to take down two Hung Up clips that anyone who loves Madonna has or has had from the previous blog post today. I guess it worked as they're not there anymore.
Seriously though, what harm are two 20 second clips that are immensely available through any sort of sharing software going to do to a single that is available in better quality through the Motorola campaign? If I were to post a clip that I'd recorded in a club which has tested samples of HU, would I be "requested" to remove it too? Ridiculous.
Maybe the powers that be should get used to the fact that file-sharing will happen as long as freedom of speech is available online. My file-sharing was harmless. Less than 30 second long clips are available of a wide range of music through reputable sites like Yahoo and Lycos, neither of which damage potential sales of said record.
Besides, EVERYONE'S ALREADY HEARD THE CLIPS! IT'S NOT A SECRET ANYMORE. TRY NOT HAVING THE CLIPS IN A COMMERCIAL NEXT TIME.
